FAQs
1. What is physical therapy?
"Physical therapists (PTs) are health care professionals who diagnose and treat individuals who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. PTs examine each individual and develop a plan using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability" (American Physical Therapy Association).
2. What are the benefits of aquatic physical therapy?
After an illness, injury, or surgery, a patient’s sensitivity to pain may be increased or the ability to bear weight on the injured area or to even actively move it may also be limited. In water, the pull of gravity on the body is not as strong as on land, therefore motion and functional activity are more comfortable. Water supports the weight of the body, reduces joint stress, and provides resistance and assistance to movement. Patients can improve mobility, strength, and function rapidly during the healing process
3. Do I need a referral to come to physical therapy?
No and yes. The District of Columbia is a direct-access area and does not require a referral from a physician in order to receive physical therapy services. All Medicare recipients do need a referral or prescription in order to continue with physical therapy after the evaluation. In addition, your insurance company may require a referral in order to reimburse for services. You can check with your insurance company by calling member services or we can help you find out that information.
4. Is there parking available?
Yes, there is easy and fully accessible garage parking located on Upton Street. Take the elevator to P2 in order to get into Tenley Sport & Health Club. We are located just behind the front desk in the Pilates and Yoga corridor. Tenley Sport & Health front desk will validate your parking ticket. The price is $1.25 for 2 hours.
5. What is your cancellation policy?
At GetWell Rehabilitation, LLC we emphasize personal attention and personalized treatment to meet the patient’s needs. Based on this philosophy we reserve each patient’s appointment time solely for that patient. When a patient cancels at the last minute or does not show up for an appointment then that session is lost and we are most often unable to use that time to treat other patients that require our services. Due to our emphasis on personalized treatment and the problems caused by missed appointments, GetWell Rehabilitation, LLC does charge $50.00 for appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice of the scheduled appointment and we are unable to fill that missed appointment.
6. Do you participate with insurance companies?
We are a preferred Medicare provider. We are out-of-network for al other insurers. We understand the difficulties with filing claims and receiving reimbursement. Therefore we try to make the process as easy and affordable for you as possible. Please see our "insurances" section for more detail.
